If you have a pci card, try to activate the module with 'modconf'. If it
is isa, try installing sndconfig. Then make sure the mixer settings are
ok.

You need a printerfilter for this. Try to install the following packages:
lprng magicfilter svgalib-dummyg1 gs gsfonts

You should be able to configure your printer with magicfilter.
