I think this is a good suggestion. | I had a hard time configuring my ESS 1868. With the 2.4 kernel it just works. The card I used to have was an ESS 1869 (I don't have any sound card at the moment). I had no trouble with it once I picked the right DMA channel. If you're interested I still have the config options commented out in my modules.conf, I could send them to you. -D
