You have to run 'dselect update' if you change /etc/apt/sources.list.

Thanks ! Due to what was probably a combination of my own ignorance and
a pretty deadly nethack I've had to reinstall...someone said I was
paranoid until they saw the logfiles...guess what I've heard about TCP
and ipv4 is true...secure it ain't...but I digress: ] good tip ;) I
didn't know that...
