Security updates to sid are posted to the main repository. Note, however,
that they are done by the package maintainers, NOT the security team (as a
rule. Exceptions might happen).  Therefore, they may be less timely than the
security updates done to stable.

Yes, it is better that you do. Sometimes, the security updates for stable
are good for unstable too and arrive earlier.  Of course, by tracking the
stable security tree, you mix stable and unstable, therefore you MUST pay
attention when installing packages or you might install stuff from stable
(that are in the security repository) that are no longer in unstable.
