can't help you, but I can say that the revtex on debian is still 3, not the latest RevTeX 4 (latex2e finally). Yeah, it's still pseudo-beta, but it works great for me, and they accept manuscripts written with it as compuscripts now. Why hasn't that hit unstable/testing yet, anyway?
