how to advise dselect of X 4.1.0

I've installed XFree86 4.1.0 from source. (The latest deb seems to be
4.0.3.) How do I tell dselect that I've done that? I want it to leave
XFree86 4.1.0 alone, not try to bring in an updated 4.0.x.
