What is the vga setting in your lilo.conf file? I had something similar happen to me, and all it was was that I had vga=788 in the .conf file, but forgot to enable the framebuffer options in the kernel. It wasn't actually hanging, it just wasn't able to output anything to the screen. -- Steve
