Okay; I tried that and it works now after I stopped it and restarted it. (Also, I should note that when it wasn't working, I was still able to retrieve mail by manually running fetchmail as a user (using the user's ~/.fetchmailrc, which differs from /etc/fetchmailrc only in that it doesn't include the "is <username> here" part).) So, it's fine now, but I'm still stumped as to how the system-wide fetchmail process ended up in a state where it was running but not working, and I'm not looking forward to having to periodically restart the process myself if it keeps happening. -- Thomas J.
