Sorry to go off on a tangle, but how is all this supposed to be working? I mean, if I have /etc/hosts like: 192.168.1.1 host.local.domain host ip lookup works: $ host 192.168.1.1 Name: host.local.domain Address: 192.168.1.1 Aliases: host but name lookup fails $ host host.local.domain host.local.domain does not exist (Authoritative answer) Is this how it should be? Or have I a misconfigured system? -- groetjes, carel
