This is not true you just: # cd /etc # grep -i hdparm *.d/* | less A handy sysadmin tool to finding where something is set, initialized, launched, etc. I just use less as it I see the stderr output, but then can page thru the stdout. Most normal services/features are commented out in their start files until the package is installed. -- rob Live the dream.
