***Pulling foot from mouth*** That is what I used, now that I remember - unfortunately it conflicted with something I use much more, and so I'd removed it by the time I went to post that message (and double-check what I was saying.) Mencoder (at least the current version I have compiled) insists on putting an AVI header on its files - including mpegs. As such, they are not *actually* usable for making vcds. My bad. :( -- Mark L.
