Edit your /etc/apt/sources.list file. It should contain lots of lines. Edit one of the lines starting with deb, and instead of the word stable/potato, type testing. Save the file. Then do at the command prompt, 'apt-get update'. That will update your packages list to the latest from the ftp or http server. Then do 'apt-get dist-upgrade'. RTFM apt-get.
