Hi, Karsten: You can specify the '-depth 1' option on your startx invocation: $ startx -- -depth 1 ...which will open a mono session. There's also a monochrome X server (xserver-mono), which can be used to present monochrome displays. Many applications/environments dither rather heavily when run in monochrome mode, results may vary. Cheers. -- Karsten M.
