Check out the initrd-tools package in testing/unstable. It allows you to create an initrd image which loads the modules needed to mount the root filesystem. It requires a 2.4 kernel with cramfs (which was introduced around 2.4.2). I tried it, but I discovered I couldn't use it: LVM needs a writeable initrd file system. -- G. ``Iggy'' Geens - ICQ: #64109250 Home: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> - Work: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> WWW: http://users.pandora.be/guy.geens/ ``I was thinking about how everyone was dying and maybe it's time to live.'' - Eels
