It does not work... Kernel 2.4.5, printing stuff as modules, HP Deskjet 710 here, tried cups, lprng, lpd.

This seems to be wrong in my eyes. Any ideas, any clues, any hints? If I get it right, I should be able to do "cat /etc/passwd >dev/lp0" without any problems...?! Also, setting the printer port to normal with no DMA and what not did not help at all. Besides, two cables cannot both be broken if the status readback is working. TIA!
