Edit /etc/ppp/peers/provider. Replace connect "/usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/chatscripts/provider" with connect "/usr/sbin/chat -v -t120 -f /etc/chatscripts/provider" To make chat keep trying to connect for two minutes.
