I don't know your exact network details - but at one stage at work I was
finding it would take for ever to ssh into our debian box.
The prolem turned out to be that since the network has private ip
addresses (as I assume yours does since it is masqed), ssh was tring to
do reverse dns lookups on the private ip address.
I found some way of turning this off and know everything works as usual.
