picking up this htread form a while ago ...

no.  the kernel loads, and then i get the error:

crc error

--System halted.

yes, it is, and no, i can't.

no.  same error as the floppy.

i also tried jumpering my slave as a master and booting off that one
(same IDE chain as my other drive), and same error.

barring any brilliant inspiration, i think i'm definitely going to
have to shell out for a new motherboard if i want a functioning
computer ...
