I have no problem at all with 4 of these cards on an old, P100, 440BX based chipset that serves at home as DSL router. (the box has been up for 70 days without any problem) Yet : I had a hell of a lot of problem getting them to work on 2 friend's computers. They had Athlon processors on VIA-based motherboards. Those motherboards could'nt run fine with RTL8139 either, so I think it's rather motherboard related. I was told that such misfortune happened on other, Intel motherboards. You can have a try, anyway. The problems range from annoying (noticeable slowdowns, then you're back again, but you kernel log is filled) to barely useable (you have to ifup/ifdown quite often under heavy load) to completely unusable (you have to ifup/ifdown every 30 seconds or so). Have a try, anyway. And yes, the driver for your card is rhine if you have a dfe530 TX. some other versions (the TX is replaced by something else) use RTL8139. You can have a look at your card, the rtl8139 is clearly written on the chip.
