how can i get ftp installed.. and why would it not come installed as baseThe client is probably already installed. If not, just "apt-get install ftp". If you want the server, "apt-get install proftpd". Although you'll be better off with sftp, which is part of the ssh package (apt-get install ssh), because it's more secure than ftp.
