I am also experimenting with upgrading potato to testing now that I have some more bandwith available. I screwed up big time by doing apt-get update && apt-get upgrade instead of apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade. I tried to remedy by using dselect, but that only caused more conflicts and essential package removal like bsdutils.
I think you shouldn't mix apt-get with dselect, but I'd like to hear some comments on this. Or maybe use deselect to make choices and use upt-get dselect-upgrade, but I haven't tried if this works. Anyway, I experiment on a test system so I'm used to frequent re-installs after screwing up :-) --Hans At 09:50 AM 4/20/01 +0200, Michael Novak wrote: > >i've installed potato 2.2r2 and now i would like to have new version of qt >library. >so i added new source pointing on debian ftp unstable version into >/etc/atp/sources.list and run dselect. after cache update dselect >automaticaly(!) selects about 50mb packages! > >i supposed that after my qt selection only nessesary packages will be >installed/upgraded. why dselect wants to remove ie. xfonts-100dpi it >shouldn't depends on anything. > >where i made a mistake? > >michael >_________________________________________ >Deepend Prague | Karlovo nam. 17 | 12000 | Praha 2 >T +420 (2) 21 98 62 50 F +420 (2) 21 98 62 51 >W www.deepend.cz | W www.deepend.com > > >-- >To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] >with a subject of "unsubscribe".
