Good afternoon,

I am running a Potato based Debian system that I would like to get
Mailman up and running on. Needless to say I have encountered some
problems involving Mailman, and I am wondering if anyone here is currently
using the Debian-supplied Mailman package and has it working.

I have followed the instructions in the README.Debian file, tried
tweaking things to work... but to no avail. My symtoms are:

 - I cannot post to any created mailing lists. I can send mail to it, but
it disappears into oblivion. (I've checked as many logs as I can think of
and have found no trace).

 - I used to have trouble with Mailman remembering settings, but it now
seems to be able to remember the settings as well as the subscribed users.

 - When I create a new mailing list, say "list", I will get a directory
/var/lib/mailman/private/list.mbox (the Mailman-created web pages will
choke as they want to point to 'list' and not 'list.mbox'... I can work
around with with a symbolic link, but I don't think this helps anything).

I would really like to use the Debian package as opposed to going out and
compiling it from scratch, simply to take advantage of any security
updates, etc. that I can apt-get.

Also, I am running a Potato system but am currently trying to use
Mailman-2.0final (from woody/unstable)... Mailman-1.1.6 or whatever would
absolutely refuse to work for me. I've installed any dependencies it
required.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

 Thanks!

p.s. Please Cc: me as I'm not subscribed to this list.
