since this seems to be an issue for quite some time now ... I do not promote this software because of any experience i had but it just seemed to fit into the discussion.
To all those newbies who decided that linux ain't the way to go because they don't have the time to delve into documentation and/or computer technology alltogether. To those who're confident they are up to it just skip this mail NOW. Take a look at www.progeny.com Progeny Debian, a commercial version of Debian, it's now (since april 9th) available for download and the box set will be available on April 23rd. Progeny Debian provides an enhanced feature set that includes easy graphical installation, hardware detection support, and improved configuration and management tools. It's still freely downloadable though :) You're asked to register but i'm not sure if this is required, i guess not. The downloads you need are at http://archive.progeny.com/progeny/images/1.0/ Mind you though that this version runs an older kernel and does not come with the newly release 2.4.x kernel. You don't need the newton-src-1.raw and newton-src-2.raw images if you don't plan on recompiling anything. Please do read any release notes and/or other available documenation before proceeding this will save you some obvious trouble. Regards, Joris
