virtual eth0

Hi!
 
I´m trying to configure eth0:0 and eth0:1 with /etc/network/interfaces.
 
iface eth0:0 inet static
        address 192.168.1.50
        netmask 255.255.255.0
        network 192.168.1.0
        broadcast 192.168.1.255
        gateway 192.168.1.1
 
Should do it, but after 'ifup eth0' I get:
'Ignoring unknown interface eth0=eth0'
 
I´m using current unstable with kernel 2.2.18.
Manually configuring with ifconfig works ok.
 
Can anyone help me?
