I had problems with mkttfdir too--it didn't segfault, but I have several fonts that it fails to include in the fonts.dir. ttmkfdir works much better for me, but I don't think it's included in a Debian package. However, its source code and a precompiled binary are linked to at http://www.spinner.org.nz/linux.php , which also includes instructions for setting up TT fonts in general. Basically with ttmkfdir instead of typing "mkttfdir" you'll type these two commands (in the dir with your TT fonts): ttmkfdir -o fonts.scale mkfontdir -- Tom "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." -Albert Einstein
