On your lilo prompt enter "linux 2" assuming the label for your preferred kernel is linux and the runlevel for console is 2. Unless you've changed these, these values will work. I don't know if the default lilo setup will allow you to select like this. You might have to enable it by editing /etc/lilo.conf and uncommenting the lines for 'prompt', 'delay', and 'timeout'. If you modify that file you need to run /sbin/lilo to implement the changes. That should do ya.
