I am seeing an identical problem. I have KDE unstable installed on two different systems (one at home and one at work). Both exhibit identical behavior to that described Mino below. The KDE font chooser does not list the full set of fonts on the system. Konsole is the worst, there is a single, fixed width font to choose and it is not pleasing to the eyes.
Although I am not 100% certain, I believe the problem first surfaced after installing KDE 2.1 I do not believe that this problem was present in the last beta. If more information is needed, please let me know.
