Depends of the definition of "Info-directory-list". On my system (2.2r2 with GNU Emacs 20.7.2) the default value is
("/usr/local/lib/info/" "/usr/local/info/" "/usr/share/info/" "/usr/info" "/usr/share/info/" "/usr/info" "/usr/share/info") (Not sure why all the multiple listings?) and "/usr/share/info->/usr/info". The "dir" file containing all the links to the info files is in /usr/info. William F. Dowling said on March 7, 2001 at 17:35 (-0500) > >Where should the top-level info menu (dir) for emacs be? Now when I install a package (eg gcc-doc or >binutils-doc) that follows this policy, the info files go in >/usr/share/info, but the dir file there is not updated. > >Thanks for your suggestions, > >Will > >-- >William F.
