hi, is there a way to save the selection of packages (independent of version numbers) that exist on the system so that the same set of programs can be conveniently restored or installed on another machine?
sure, i can parse dpkg -l into perl and do my thing that way, but that's a feature a package management system like dpkg/dselect ought to have. even crappy-suse comes with that...
