I would say, use an external card, rather than trying to get an onboard Crystal CS4236B chip to work. I've never seen a report from someone who's managed to get one working. I have the identical setup you have, and I've given up after about three months of trying just about everything. Now I'm out looking for some SB64-like card that is in the ALSA list as "definitely supported", and get those fingers firmly crossed. > Ugh, this is almost like work!!
