The big question on performance: How does a single 1 GHz CPU compare to dual 500 MHz CPU's for performanace? For cost? (I'm sure the dual 500s are cheaper, but by how much? And don't forget to include the extra cost of the dual-CPU mobo...) Power consumption? > and > you're stuck with Intel (which you may or may not consider a drawback). Today you are, at least. I've heard the occasional rumor that dual AMD mobos may be available as soon as Q1 2001 (i.e., within the next couple months). They're vapor until the hit the shelf, of course, but that's what I'm waiting for before trying SMP for myself. -- SGI products are used to create the 'Bugs' that entertain us in theatres and at home. - SGI job posting Geek Code 3.1: GCS d? s+: a- C++ UL++$ P++>+++ L+++>++++ E- W--(++) N+ o+ !K w---$ O M- V?
