Or I had this happen recently when I updated helix-gnome and something got screwed up.... Anyway, you could try something like the following: 1. alt-ctl-F1, to switch to a text console. 2. log in as one of the users you tried logging on as under gdm. 3. more .gnome-errors Perhaps that will give you some idea what's going on.---b.
