I forgot to mention that in my post that I can move the mouse around just like you say. I have also thougth of it being a hardware-problem. Just out of curiosity, what gfx-card do you have? I have a 3dfx voodoo3 2000 agp, maybe there is some problem with the tdfx-driver.
