Hi there, this is to raise the issue whether the case of the login (username, user-ID) is relevant on Linux.
I today observed that ipopd 4.7c-1 does NOT pay attention to the case of the login, but that proftpd 1.2.0pre10-2 DOES honor the case of the login (this is on a pure Debian 2.2 system.) I'm not sure which one is correct (I believe ipopd is correct,) but in either case shouldn't both packages react the same way? Is there a definitive standard that defines what's right and what's wrong?
