VM: do_try_to_free_pages failed for kswapd.

hi,
I get the above message on a tty
(VM: do_try_to_free_pages failed for kswapd)
when there is much load on a debian 2.2 system.

What exactly does it mean ? (not enough swap-space ?)
Is there a way to avoid this ?
