If so, are you able to successfully compile e.g. kernels with the
supplied gcc (2.95.2)? I'd be interested in positive or negative
replies to rule out potential causes of a problem I'm having.

I'm getting sig11's in cc1 -- a classic symptom of dubious hardware --
except I'm only getting them on my Debian 2.2 installation; if I
revert to my 2.1 installation (or, indeed, use 2.2 and mount /usr from
2.1) I can reliably compile a kernel. So I'm confused, but the current
best guess is some sort of obscure processor bug being triggered by
the new gcc. I'd be interested in more straightforward suggestions,
though :) Ta.
