Hi to all....

I wanted to install mysql-server last night, but there is still a problem and I
don't know where.

I installed mysql 3.23.xx, the latest beta- version, but I don't know, that
it is a beta, and then I removed it from my potato, beacause it depends of
debcnf from woody, which depends itself of libc6-2.1.94, which I don't wan't
to have on my system.

So I installed mysql-server last night with:
"apt-get install mysql-client mysql-server"

this is the message, what I got from apt:

----
billgotchy:/var/cache/apt/archives# apt-get install mysql-server
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Sorry, mysql-server is already the newest version
0 packages upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.
1 packages not fully installed or removed.
Need to get 0B of archives. After unpacking 0B will be used.
Setting up mysql-server (3.22.32-3) ...
update-rc.d: /etc/init.d/mysql: file does not exist
dpkg: error processing mysql-server (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
 mysql-server
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
billgotchy:/var/cache/apt/archives#

But, there where no mysql- script in /etc/init.d, before I installed the
beta and so I wondered about this message.

How can I fix it..... do I have to create a mysql script in /etc/init.d,

my someone tell my how? I'm an mysql- newbe

thnx

Jan
