i entered, into the netscape address bar, "debian apt-get manual" which netscape/google used as a search pattern, providing links including http://http.us.debian.org/debian/dists/potato/main/upgrade-i386/ch-upgrading.en.html#s-network also check out http://packages.debian.org/apt and i also found http://www.internatif.org/bortzmeyer/debian/apt-sources/ which looks like a nice place for alternatives you can put into your /etc/apt/sources.list file... -- things are more like they used to be than they are now.
