re: pan whilst its tempting to stick with semi-familiar ground, the payload needed is not in line with the philosphy I came to Debian with. ie. small in stature, tremdously powerfull and fast as lightning!
prolly (for me) I need something between a trimmed pan and rn <g> re: slrn I had checked out the home page and rather fancied the layout - I could live with that (I use Agent primarily as text commands anyways) text based is fine if well presented. I had slrn installed (part of Debians non-choices) and couldnt get it to fire up. I reinstalled it again (update) on reading this list and gave it another shot. Same problem as b4. leafnode is not finding the server. prolly because the incorrect port was nomintated back in the install dialog. Rather then try and edit a fix (no clue as to which file) I try to reinstall leafnode to get told newsx is conflicting. To remove newsx using deselect I encounter literally hours of work resetting deps! So like a good deal of obstacles I have struck getting 'initiated' there is some evidence of what I term DLS - Dear Lisa Syndrome - taken from that famous ditty "theres a hole in the bucket dear Lisa Dear Lisa". ie. slrn looks fine but getting it up and running is probably a Debian nightmaqre I might like to avoid a while yet? Both leafnode and slrn homepages rabbit on about UseNet and Servers , I reckon I have THAT T-Shirt. I am more at sea with the Debian + newsreader function. That is where I need assistance. /rant SiD "unstable yet breathing" http://movies.yahoo.com.au - Yahoo!
