Is it PCI? or is it on an expansion board? or?  If it's PCI, better
check: http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html .

If it's on an expansion board, you need a kernel that supports > 4
serial ports.  If it's ISA, you should be able to use one of 0-3 (check
your BIOS).
