Actually, DSP == Digital Signal Processor
Think of it as a CPU with built in ADCs, DACs (analog-to-digital and
digital-to-analog converters) and microcode to handle signal filtering
and transformations digitally (as opposed to in the analog realm with
resistors, capacitors and inductors).
