I have got a dream machine right next to me! It's a Pentium-133 with 16 MB RAM and it works perfectly with Debian! :)) Probably not what you are looking for... But what do you want to do with your system? Do you just want to have the best video-card and the best sound-card that is available? Or should it be a server, which has to handle thousands of requests all the time? Here is my configuration, which works great with debian (except some power management stuff): Thunderbird 700 MSI-K7pro 256 MB RAM from Samsung with ECC Asus V6600 Soundblaster 1024 20 GB IBM-DNJA But this would not cost $2000, would it? Of course you could choose a faster CPU, a newer video-card, maybe SCSI-HD - it just depends an what you are planning to do with the machine. Phil
