For the list server take a look at Listar (http://www.listar.org/), it is already packaged for Debian. Listar archives into two standard formats, one of which is mbox. If you want that available via HTTP take a look at hypermail. It, too, is packaged. As for your security, just make it a closed list requiring authorization from an admin before people are actually subscribed. -- Steve C.
