I gave up after a few days trying to go the straight Debian way without CDs. I downloaded a disk image from http://www.stormix.com (took an hour with DSL), burned the CD. The install took about 30 minutes or so and I'm off an running. Easily switch back and forth between Gnome and KDE via logout/login. I'm just so happy with Linux. Getting out of the MicroSoft world has given me a sense of freedom. Its one choice I can make in my life to get away from the myriad of billion dollar companies who want to limit my options and take my money. - greg strockbine
