I expect that you're receiving some packets over the network, with the address family set to 18. I don't know what "ash" is in the networking sense, but I'm certain that it's not related to the shell.
I'd just add "alias net-pf-18 off" to /etc/modutils/aliases, followed by running /sbin/update-modules. That will eliminate the messages, although it won't do anything for your curiosity. Cheers!
