I am having problems connecting to my college's smtp server (students.uiuc.edu) with postfix. The smtp server says "not an open relay". I can, however, use spruce (gtk+ email client) to connect to the smtp server.
In the mail headers, the postfix mail has this line: Received: from carrera.localdomain ([EMAIL PROTECTED] [130.126.169.142]) by relay1.cso.uiuc.edu (8.10.1/8.10.1) with ESMTP id e7LD6eb11661 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Mon, 21 Aug 2000 08:06:41 -0500 (CDT) The same line in the spruce mail looks like this: Received: from carrera (pbd1309.urh.uiuc.edu [130.126.169.142]) by ux8.cso.uiuc.edu (8.10.1/8.10.1) with SMTP id e7LDHck16446 for [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Mon, 21 Aug 2000 08:17:39 -0500 (CDT) The postfix uses [EMAIL PROTECTED] while the spruce does not. Is this the problem? How do I fix it, or what is the real problem? I use dhcp and don't have a static IP nor can I get a domain name. Thanks. -- Pat Mahoney <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
