The VM has been in a very bad shape in both the 2.2 and 2.4 series, and Alan is fighting hard to get 2.2 into an acceptable shape. Since I'm running the 2.4 series I can't say for sure exactly how the latest 2.2.17preX kernels behave, but I'm pretty sure things have improved a lot in this regard since 2.2.17pre6. I recommend that you try the latest 2.2.17preX kernel, where X is currently 19. The final 2.2.17 should be released soon as well. -- // André
