To change these parameters of your machine, edit the following files: /etc/hostname /etc/hosts /etc/init.d/network (if you use slink aka Debian 2.1) /etc/network/interfaces (if you use potato aka Debian 2.2) I guess that these should be the first places where you should take a look at.
