I just had to end a comfortable situation w/ my cable modem provider and would like to be able to use dial up w/ DHCP once again but am a little stymied as to what I should address for /dev/ttyS0 to be considered the primary network interface instead of eth0 for internet. This box was built w/ static IP and can connect w/ my ISP (dial up) but I think it's still trying to use it's cable modem IP instead of requesting DHCP to get an IP from the dial up ISP. I have poured through the network HOWTO but cannot find how to differentiate the network interfaces so that I can use my modem for internet while still keeping LAN capability w/ eth0. Any help would be appreciated! I am going to focus some attention at mask situations for this issue next.
