I don't know about that. I just put an extra swapfile in /var/local/swapfile. Use dd to create it, mkswap to format it, then add an entry to fstab to mount it. The mkswap man page has a good explanation... Many recommend putting the swapfile on a disk that sees less activity for better performance.
